Nurse Call Systems Are Safe Links

Nurse Call Systems are a direct link between patients and nurses. They are designed to keep patients safe by allowing them to contact a nurse’s station quickly and easily. Patients simply push a button to reach their nurse. The most common features available are a pillow speaker and call light. Other features allow patients to control the radio and television and overhead lights by pushing a button. There are also systems on a wall near the patient’s bed that allows patients to directly communicate with a nurse via a microphone. There is also a bed cable function that connects the patient’s bed to the wall station. An alarm alerts nurses whenever a fall risk patient tries to get out of bed unassisted. Call systems also have a code blue feature that alerts nurses that a patient needs help right away.
