A record shop can present several editions of the same album with very little useful information on the shelf.
Before comparing prices, decide what matters most for this purchase. You may want the quietest playback, the original cover, a specific mix, a first-era pressing, or simply a playable copy at a sensible cost.
Those goals can point to different records.
A new LP may avoid years of groove wear, but it can still have a manufacturing flaw or a warped disc.
An older copy may sound excellent, while another from the same period may have been played heavily and stored poorly.
