Why Cruelty Free Skincare Matters

Cruelty free skincare is any cosmetic or health and beauty product that’s been determined as being safe and acceptable for use on human skin, without first requiring testing on animals. In highly unregulated environments, test animals can be subjected to massive amounts of extreme cruelty and distress. For instance, before eye products like mascara and eyeliner are deemed safe for use on human eyes, they are often inserted in small quantities into the eyes of lab animals. Choosing products that are made in a far more ethically sound way is bound to give consumers greater peace of mind, particularly those who are aware of what the terms “lab-tested” and “lab-approved” actually mean. More importantly, consumer efforts to avoid products that are tested on animals sends a very impactful message to skincare manufacturers. When enough people make this statement by purchasing cruelty-free products instead, many companies become increasingly willing to make dramatic changes in their product testing practices and general operations.
