Peer review refers to the process of evaluating the performance of professionals in a given discipline in order to improve quality, maintain standards or meet certification needs. In academic fields peer review is used prior to the publication of scholarly articles and to inform decisions when granting members of faculty tenure.
Peer review services offer assessments of manuscripts prior to publication in the fields of science, technology, mathematics, engineering and medicine. These are paid services that critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of a manuscript and provide advice on improvements that can be made to them; this can include advice on creating headings, sentence and paragraph structure and improved text flow as well as on the facts presented to enhance the likelihood of the manuscript being accepted. These reviews are undertaken by subject matter experts in the field relevant to the subject of a manuscript.
