UV Light Sterilizers: What Are They?

If we decide to go technical -and allow me to do so- UV light sterilizers are what experts in the field of sanitation would refer to as Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). This is basically a method of disinfection that makes use of short wave length ultraviolet light to eradicate microorganisms that cause disease like bacteria.

Used in a variety of applications, these methods are used to purify air, food and even water. A bit of a stretch, you might think, but UVGI actually works, and it’s a lot cheaper and more effective than most of the methods of years gone by.

Using UVGI methods you can get rid of viruses, bacteria, molds and various other pathogens. It is for this reason that these methods are used in water filtration systems, as they are capable of removing bacteria and viruses without using chemical compounds that have been known to have harmful side effects on local populations.
