It is important to understand the nature of police dog attacks. Police dogs are highly trained animals who get training for years before they get to partner along with police for search operations and chasing convicts. Just like police officers the police dog is able to access the crime and give a proper response to the situation.
Most police dog attacks are exercises where dogs learn to chase the suspects and subdue them. They are able to hold and control the culprit while the police arrive and capture them. It is difficult to outrun a dog and most criminals give in and not to stand and oppose a police dog attack. There have been incidents where police dog attacks happen to normal people and unaware pedestrians however the likelihood of these events are rare and these dogs are on leash in public spaces following all safety protocols.
