Tips For Buying Less Toxic Training Shirts

There are a wide range of hazardous chemicals that could be lurking in your training shirts, including phthalates, poly- and per-flourinated chemicals (PFCs), Nanoparticle silver, Dimethylformamide (DMF), and Triclosan among others. To avoid some of these chemicals, here are a few tips that you should keep in mind:

• Avoid plastic prints or screen printed shirts as they are potential sources of phthalates

• Buy organic fabrics such as cotton, silk and wool. Natural fabrics have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and hence great for thermal regulation. They are also highly breathable

• Go for brands with bluesign certification. The bluesign is an indication that the hazardous chemicals have been kept at minimum during the manufacturing process

• Avoid trademarked technical fabrics since most of them are coated with chemical synthetics.

Lastly, when you are going to wear the outfit all the day, strive to invest in a piece with as a few potentially hazardous chemicals as possible.
