There are plenty of things to do in Prague, which during the last few decades has become one of Europe’s most popular and affordable cities. Highlights include the sprawling castle, parts of which date from the 9th century, as well as the Old Town Square, with its 15th century astronomical clock. Also not to be missed is the city’s most famous bridge, the Charles Bridge, which is lined with statues of historical and religious figures. The atmospheric Jewish cemetery is one of the oldest burial grounds in Europe, and is in the heart of what was once the city’s Jewish quarter. Prague is a wonderful place to simply stroll and take in the Baroque, Renaissance and Art Nouveau architecture; it’s also one of the best places to enjoy live classical music. An easy day trip from Prague is to 14th century Karlstejn Castle with its spectacular hilltop setting.
