Nutraceutial is a broad term used to refer to nutritional products and supplements derived from food sources. Nutraceutial manufacturing basically involves collection of food items, plants, herbs and animal tissue containing the required ingredients. This is followed by cleaning, extraction, drying, mixing, testing and packaging.
Once the main ingredients have been extracted from the raw materials, they are dried or mixed with other liquids, in case of syrups. The mixing process follows. This is done to attain the formulation specified by the client. After mixing, testing must be done to determine the accuracy and consistency of the mixture. If everything is in order. Some harmless compounds, such as honey and cellulose may be added to increase the volume of the mixture.
When making tablets or capsules, the mixture must be in powder form. The powder is measured and molded after being mixed with honey or put in capsules in concentrated form. The tablets will then be ready for packaging and shipping.
