The Dangers of Wearing Sclera Contacts

Wearing sclera contacts, a type of large-diameter contact lens that covers the entire eye, has become increasingly popular in recent years. However, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks involved with wearing these types of contacts, including the development of sclera contacts yellow.

Sclera contacts are typically used for special effects in movies or photoshoots, but some people wear them as a fashion statement. Unfortunately, many individuals don’t realize the importance of proper hygiene and care when handling and wearing these types of contacts. Failure to clean them properly can lead to the buildup of bacteria and fungi that can cause serious eye infections.

One of the most significant dangers of wearing sclera contacts is the possibility of developing scleral icterus, commonly known as sclera contacts yellow. This condition causes the white part of the eye to turn yellow, similar to the discoloration that occurs in jaundice.

Sclera contacts yellow is a serious issue that can be caused by a variety of factors, including liver problems, but wearing sclera contacts for an extended period without proper cleaning can also lead to this condition. If left untreated, scleral icterus can cause permanent vision damage.

While wearing sclera contacts can be fun for special occasions, it’s important to always follow proper care and hygiene procedures to reduce the risk of eye infections and other complications. If you experience symptoms like a yellowing of the eyes, pain, or discomfort, seek medical attention immediately.
