PSPF or Protective Security Policy Framework has been developed by the Australian government to help Australian entities protect their domestic and international assets. It provides guidance to implement this policy across governance, physical security, information security and personal security. Its goal is to ensure an environment of confidence and trust. The stakeholders can work securely if they follow the PSPF security directive. It fosters a positive security culture within the organization that implements it.
This policy consists of five principles, four outcomes, sixteen core requirements and a comprehensive guidance. The principles define the fundamental values for all areas of security. The outcomes outline the desired end results. The core requirements outline what entities have to do to achieve the desired protective outcome. There are several supporting requirements to facilitate the security implementation. The guidance provides advice about how PSPF solutions can be delivered. A clear line of accountability is established to make it easier for investigation, response, reporting and review process.
