Steps For Hydraulic Seal Replacement

A number of commercial and domestic equipment have hydraulic systems. For these systems to work properly, they need seals to ensure that the liquid held inside does not escape. But after a period of use, these hydraulic seals get worn out and they fail. When these seals fail, you can either call a technician or do the replacement yourself. In case you decide to do it yourself, here are a few steps on how to perform hydraulic seal replacement.

1. Take out the older O-ring and any other remaining debris it might have left behind

2. Oil the new O-ring

3. Install the O-ring by pushing it against the hydraulic cylinder’s groove until it is firmly in place

4. Wipe out the excess oil

5. Install the fittings in their specific places

6. Remove any debris left behind by the older back-up ring and apply oil to the new back-up ring

7. Install the new back-up ring

8. Fit the cylinder back
