Mental health apps make everyday life easier. Whether you are heading to town, planning your budget or managing your schedule, there is app to suit specific needs. Nowadays, they can also help treat people with mental illness.
Researchers are designing mobile applications for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad to assist patients in their treatment and recovery. These innovations represent a first in many countries as regards the development and the use of new mobile technologies in mental health. Previously, experts mistakenly believed that mental health patients cannot use new technologies.
However, a recent study conducted among 120 patients who completed an iPad questionnaire during their stay in the emergency room of a hospital show that 85 percent of patients were in favour of the use of new technologies. The availability of first mobile applications in mental health will allow people to better manage their illness and thus become more autonomous in their living environment.
