If you want to fly a drone over a certain size in the United States, then you need to pass the Part 107 test. This is sometimes called the knowledge exam among enthusiasts, and it consists of a battery of questions that deal with almost facet of drone piloting.
The FAA divides these questions into the following five different areas:
• Regulations
• Airspace
• Weather
• Loading & Performance
• Operations
Applicants are expected to take an initial exam of 60 questions along with a future recurrent exam that consists of an additional 40 questions. While this might sound a bit unnerving at first, the FAA has published a list of sample questions so you won’t walk into the exam unprepared. You can find practice tests to drill yourself months in advance, which means you’ll be ready when the big day comes.
