Monorail Mumbai: A Transportation Marvel

Located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, the Monorail Mumbai is an integral part of India’s transportation system. Since the closing of two other railway systems in the country, this is a major feat. In addition, this is a great transportation solution for the city’s growing population. Japan is the only other country in the world to have a monorail system that is larger.

Its top speed is 50 miles per hours. Trains can travel between 17 stations within a 45-minute duration. To make passengers feel secure, each station has security guards, metal detectors and bomb detection equipment.

Every train has four coaches that can carry a total of 568 people. This means that there are 48 passengers that stand and 80 that sit down for the duration of the ride. There is also designated seating for pregnant, disabled and elderly passengers.

The monorail’s colors are pink, light blue and green.
