There are many types of earthing technologies that electricians normally use when installing electrical wiring in a building. The most common, however, is driving a long copper rod into the ground. The earth wire in the electrical power supply system will then be connected to that earth rod. The second option is to dig a hole measuring several feet in depth into the ground and burring a thick copper plate in the ground. A copper rod will then be connected to that metal plate. The third option is simply to connect the earth wire to metallic water pipes in the plumbing system. However, this can only work if metal pipes have been used in the plumbing system.
Whichever earthing technology is used, what matters is who did the wiring. For complete electrical safety, be sure to hire a licensed electrician to do the job.
