For many, jogger pants have become nothing more than glorified pajamas people wear to the store in the morning when there’s no milk at home. However, these underrated gym and running pants retain great value in their original purpose; increasing workout-induced body heat. While running, the extra heat entrapped by the jogging pants causes a terrific cooling down effort by the body, and this burns extra calories.
Cotton, of course, is the most popular fabric used for jogging pants. Air flows in natural fabrics, and cotton is quite handy at absorbing moisture rather than allowing it to run in rivulets down your legs. However, it because of this absorption that cotton brands will require extra trips to the launderette. Some brands are stitched in fancy fabric weaves, such as twill, and many are blended with polyester.
While black is a popular colour for running apparel, plain old white is best if one is jogging around town at dusk. Bear in mind one need not look like a stodgy plodder in their jogger pants. The materials and styles are so varied now that people often look as though they’re dressing up for going out to the gym rather than tromping out for a pint of breakfast milk.
