How to Grow Lavender in Your Garden

Lavender is a beautiful and versatile flowering herb that makes a great addition to any garden. Not only is it stunning when in bloom, but it’s also known for its calming scent and medicinal qualities. Growing lavender is relatively easy, making it an ideal choice for beginning gardeners as well as experienced green thumbs. Here’s how to get started:

Pick the Perfect Location – Lavender loves full sun and well-drained soil with a pH of 6.8-7.2, so choose an area of your yard that gets plenty of light and has good drainage in order to ensure healthy growth for your plants. If you don’t have an ideal spot already, consider amending your soil with organic matter or planting in raised beds or containers filled with potting soil mix specifically designed for herbs like lavender.

Purchase Quality Plants – When buying lavender plants from the nursery, look for specimens that are free from brown spots or signs of disease on their leaves; they should also have strong stems and plenty of unopened flower buds at the top of their stems indicating they haven’t flowered yet this season (if applicable).
