Flying With Your Pet

If you are thinking of pet transport Sydney travel agents can answer your questions, as can your airline. The regulations and requirements can vary between airlines, and can be complicated if you are flying overseas or flying on different airlines. As a general rule most allow small dogs and cats to be transported in the cabin although larger animals must be checked, and you will need to have an airline approved container for your pet. This must be large enough to allow them to lie down and turn around, ventilated and sturdy. You will need to provide water for your pet during the flight, and if you are changing planes, there may be temperature restrictions in effect at the transfer airport. Always check with your vet to make sure that your pet is healthy enough to fly; your vet may recommend a sedative to calm your animal.
