In our country, we are extremely proud of and supportive of our armed forces veterans. It is important that when our soldiers return home, support and encouragement is continued. Many people would like to donate to charities for veterans, however, with so many options out there, it is hard to determine which foundation to donate to. There are a few simple steps one can take to determine the effectiveness of a veteran’s charity before donating:
- What are funds used for? An acceptable charity should be transparent and clearly describe how all monies are used.
- Do your research. There are many online services that do extensive investigations into different charity organizations and provide free data to the public on their effectiveness.
- Get involved. If the charity is local, volunteer at one of their events and see firsthand how your money might be used.
