DOT Supervisor Training Provisions

Department of Transportation (DOT) drug & alcohol supervisor coaching are FMCSA, FAA, FTA, USCG, PHMSA standards. The purpose of the DOT Supervisor Training is to give the supervisor the understanding and qualification to open a reasonable suspicion drug or alcohol examination. The course trains the supervisor to learn the reasons, check for circumstances, and observe indicators that give the ground to have reasonable suspicion. Once the supervisor has a reasonable doubt of a driver who may be driving under the influence of alcohol, the supervisors can build a referral for an employee to attend drug testing. The tests are the requirements for the supervisors, and the owner-operators have an exemption from these pieces of training. The sections of training are mandatory for the supervisors so they can ensure the drivers are fully complying with the company’s policy on drug and alcohol prohibition.
