Although it’s easy to take them for granted, hand woven cushions and pillows should be washed frequently to keep the colors fresh and vibrant.
The Golden Rules of Caring for Your Cushions
-Ideally, pillows and cushions should be cleaned every 3-6 months to get rid of bacteria, odors and mold.
-While some experts recommend dry-cleaning for fluffy items, it’s usually safe to wash them. This can be done either using a machine on gentle cycle, or even by hand. That said, you might want to read the instructions on the tag to ensure yours aren’t dry-clean only.
-Most items can go into a dryer, save for those made of foam. The latter should be dried on a rack or clothesline.
-Invest in zippered/buttoned protectors for easy washing and changing.
