Swimming with creatures of the deep can make for a memorable experience, and if you like the idea of diving with whale sharks, several places around the world claim to be the best spot. Mexico, in particular, is often said to be the best place on earth to see whale sharks, with many tour operators guaranteeing that you’ll see some of your diving trip. The Baja peninsula is generally accepted to be the best place in Mexico; elsewhere in central America, the small country of Belize is also a popular destination. Two places that may not come to mind as being great diving destinations are Tanzania and the Philippines; both are known for their whale shark sightings. And perhaps the most beautiful place in the world to get up close and personal with sharks is the Maldives, a group of tropical islands in the Indian Ocean.
