An industry report is a detailed account of a certain industry that contains in-depth information, statistics, and facts. The reports can be private (meant for industry insiders and shareholders) or public (accessible for everyone). The reports are prepared by various party experts such as:
- Government agencies. They are prepared for an analysis of the political, social, and economic sectors of a country.
- Research firms. The firms carry out market surveys and prepare a detailed report sold to companies and government agencies. The reports are purchased by interested firms to enable decision-making processes.
- Individual companies. Various companies prepare industry reports for their own consumption aimed at facilitating decision making processes regarding internal management. Such reports from individual companies are private, therefore not available for public consumption.
The reports contain industry definition, company outlook, market shares, historical and current trends, employment statistics, and SWOT analysis.
