A minimum melting temperature at 1145 ° C may be used in CNC Milling Services. The melted mass collects in the crucible and the slag that floats on it protects the iron from oxidation by the air blown.
The metal produced in the blast furnace is not pure, it constitutes iron and contains on average 4% carbon, 2.5% silicon, 2% phosphorus, 0.1% sulfur and up to 2.5% manganese. iron can be obtained in two forms called white and gray respectively. White iron is obtained by rapid cooling of the blast furnace product, it contains carbon dissolved in iron and is hard and brittle.
Gray iron is obtained by slow cooling because as the temperature decreases and the carbon solubility in iron decreases, the carbon separates from the graphitic state. Gray iron which has better mechanical properties is used to make a large quantity of objects that do not need to be subjected to stress.
