3 Steps to an Effective DBT Therapy Session

DBT therapy is a type of therapy created to help people with emotional dysregulation, impulsiveness, and difficulty managing their emotions and behaviors. 1) DBT therapists have a different approach to DBT than most other types of therapists– they use skills training instead of insight-oriented work or cognitive-behavioral approaches.

2) DBT includes four modules: mindfulness skills group, distress tolerance skills group, emotion regulation skills group, and interpersonal effectiveness skills group.

3) DBT is all about acceptance- it teaches you how to accept your feelings without judgment or criticism

DBT therapy is an excellent option for individuals with DSM-IV diagnoses, including bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders.
